CIP Merit Calculator — Punjab Residency Program
Passing FCPS Part 1 remains the exam you sit during training, but the Punjab Central Induction Policy (CIP) merit score for January 2027 induction onwards is now built on the UHS PGET plus an academic block. Here is how the formula works and a calculator to work out your score.
What decides your CIP merit score now
If you're applying for postgraduate residency training (FCPS, MS, MD, or MDS) through the Punjab Residency Program, seats are offered strictly by your Central Induction Policy (CIP) merit score. Under the policy notified on 21 August 2026 for January 2027 induction onwards, that score is out of 100: 75 from your UHS Postgraduate Entrance Test (PGET) result plus 25 points from your MBBS/BDS aggregate (15), university positions (5) and house job (5).
The earlier version of the policy awarded marks for MDCAT and for FCPS-I attempts or JCAT percentile. Those categories were removed, so a pass in PGET is now both an eligibility requirement and the heaviest component of your merit.

UHS PGET (75 marks)
Two papers of 100 marks each; your PGET result carries 75% of the CIP score.
MBBS aggregate (15 marks)
Sum of marks obtained in all professional exams ÷ sum of total marks, × 15 (Islamiat & Pakistan Studies are included).
University positions (5 marks, capped)
Number of 1st/2nd/3rd positions across your professional exams, at the university level (not the college). MBBS: 1 mark each.
House job (5 marks)

The PGET figure assumes your two papers are combined out of 200; confirm your exact score against the official notification and PRP portal before relying on it. Frequently asked questions
Do FCPS-I marks still count in CIP?+
Not under the 21 August 2026 policy. FCPS-I attempt marks and JCAT percentile bands, which counted for up to 5 marks under the March 2026 policy, were removed; PGET now carries 75% of the merit score.
Does CIP apply outside Punjab?+
No — CIP is specific to postgraduate residency induction through the Punjab Residency Program (PRP). Other provinces and Islamabad run their own separate induction and merit processes.
Is the CIP formula the same every induction cycle?+
No. The Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department has revised it more than once, most recently on 21 August 2026 for January 2027 induction, when PGET became 75% of the score and the MDCAT and FCPS-I/JCAT marks were removed. Always check the current notification on the official PRP portal before relying on a figure.
