MCCQE Part 1 Question Bank: How Pakistani Doctors Should Practise
The MCC does not release past papers, and recalled files are unreliable. Here is what to look for in an MCCQE Part 1 question bank and how to use one from Pakistan.

Pakistani doctors preparing for MCCQE Part 1 often start by looking for “past papers” or “recalls”. The Medical Council of Canada (MCC) does not release past papers, and candidates agree to keep exam content confidential, so files claiming to be recalls should be treated with caution. A well-built question bank is the more dependable way to prepare.
What MCCQE Part 1 Tests
Part 1 is a computer-based exam taken at Pearson VUE centres, including in Pakistan. It tests medical knowledge and clinical decision-making across medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, psychiatry and population health. Questions are framed as “what do you do next” scenarios. Always confirm the current format with the MCC; our MCCQE Part 1 guide for Pakistani doctors covers the basics and the syllabus and sample questions post goes deeper.
What to Look for in an MCCQE Question Bank
- Decision-making questions, not trivia. Each question should ask for the next best step in a scenario.
- Explanations that justify the decision. The skill you need is knowing why one management step is right and the others are not.
- Breadth across specialties. The exam samples the whole of medicine, so a narrow bank leaves holes.
- Subject-wise filtering and analytics so you can find your weak specialties.
- Timed mode and mock tests to build the stamina for a long exam day.
- A free sample you can try before paying.
Why Recalls and Free PDFs Fall Short
- They are second-hand memories of exam items, so errors creep in.
- They almost never explain the reasoning.
- They teach you one question, while the exam asks a new one on the same topic.
A Practical Way to Use a Question Bank
- Learn by doing, not by rereading. Start each topic with a short set of questions in tutor mode, read the explanations, then fill the gaps you find. This is active recall.
- Track accuracy by specialty every week and shift your time towards the lowest.
- Move to timed blocks as your exam date nears, then full-length mixed sessions. See tutor mode vs timed mode.
- Plan the logistics early. Check MCCQE Part 1 fees and exam centres in Pakistan before you book.
