The Intermediate Module in Surgery (IMM) is the mid-training examination conducted by the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) for FCPS trainees in Surgery. It follows Part 1 and comes before the final Part 2 exam, and it tests whether you can apply what you have learned in the first years of residency.

What the IMM Tests

Where Part 1 is largely basic-science and recall, IMM is clinical. Expect scenarios that ask for the diagnosis, the next investigation or the best management, mixed with applied basic science. The written component is multiple choice; there is also a clinical component, which this QBank does not replace.

How to Prepare

  • Build a base in your core textbook, then use questions to find what you have not retained.
  • Do mixed sets under time, then filter by the subjects where your score is lowest.
  • Read every explanation, including for the questions you got right.
  • Keep a short log of repeated mistakes and revise it weekly.

Using the QBank

The FCPS IMM Surgery QBank offers Tutor mode (answer with immediate explanation) and Timed mode (exam rehearsal), with subject analytics showing which block is costing you marks. If you are still preparing the earlier exam, see the FCPS Part 1 Surgery QBank.
