The Aga Khan University Examination Board (AKU-EB) runs a different registration and assessment model from the Punjab, Sindh and Federal boards, which trips up a lot of students and parents encountering it for the first time. Here's how the process actually works — general, process-level guidance rather than a specific year's dates, since those change annually and should always be confirmed on AKU-EB's own site before you rely on them.

Who's Eligible for SSC-I

SSC-I is AKU-EB's Class IX assessment, sat by students enrolled at a school affiliated with the Aga Khan University Examination Board. Unlike the provincial boards, you can't register independently as a private candidate in the same way — registration happens through your affiliated institution, not directly with the board.

How Registration Actually Works

Your school handles registration, not you directly. AKU-EB-affiliated schools collect student registrations and submit them to the board as a batch, ahead of each examination cycle.
There's an annual and a supplementary (retake) cycle. Like other Pakistani boards, AKU-EB runs a main annual exam and a later supplementary sitting for students who need to retake a subject.
Fees are collected through the school. The registration fee is paid via your institution as part of the admission-form process, not directly to AKU-EB.
Exact dates are set annually. AKU-EB publishes its date sheet and admission schedule for each cycle on its own portal — that's the only place to confirm this year's actual dates, not a third-party summary (including this one).

What Makes AKU-EB's Assessment Different

AKU-EB questions (including the MCQ component) are built around applying concepts, not just recalling them — a deliberate design choice by the board. That's exactly why generic "board past papers" content aimed at Punjab/Sindh/Federal board students doesn't prepare AKU-EB candidates as well: the question style is genuinely different, even when the underlying syllabus topic is the same.

Checking Your Result

AKU-EB publishes SSC-I results on its own result portal once each cycle's marking is complete. As with the exam dates, always check AKU-EB's official site directly for the current cycle's result announcement date rather than relying on a fixed date from a previous year.
