PMDC's Official MDCAT Question Bank: What It Actually Is (and Isn't)
PMDC inaugurated a centralised MDCAT question bank in August 2025 — but it's an examiner source-pool, not a student practice platform, and no official question count has been confirmed. Here's what it actually means for your prep.

If you've searched for a "PMDC 8000 MCQs bank" for MDCAT, you've probably ended up confused — because that exact bank, with that exact number, isn't something PMDC (or PMC) has published anywhere. Here's what's actually happened, and why it matters for how you prepare.
What PMDC Actually Launched
In August 2025, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) inaugurated a centralised, digital MDCAT question bank at its headquarters, built on the single unified MDCAT syllabus now used across provinces. The goal is straightforward: instead of each province or testing body (UHS, NUMS, and others) writing its own separate MDCAT paper, boards are meant to draw their questions from this one common, vetted pool — so a biology question tested in Punjab reflects the same syllabus and standard as one tested in KP.
Earlier in 2025, PMDC officials had spoken of developing a pool of around 2,000 vetted questions as a target figure. Neither PMDC's own announcement at the August launch, nor the press coverage of it, published a final confirmed count for the bank as launched — so treat any specific number you see repeated online (including "8,000") as unverified unless PMDC's own website (pmdc.pk) or PMC's (pmc.gov.pk) states it directly. We're deliberately not repeating a number here that we can't trace to an official source.
Why You Can't "Access" This Bank to Practise
This is the part that causes most of the confusion. PMDC's question bank is a source pool for examiners — the body that sets each year's MDCAT paper draws from it. It isn't a student-facing practice platform, and PMDC hasn't released it as one. There's no portal where you log in and attempt questions from it directly. If a page or app claims to sell you "the PMDC 8,000 MCQs bank" as downloadable content, that's not something PMDC has made available to the public in that form.
What you can rely on PMDC/PMC for is the official MDCAT syllabus — the actual topic list the unified question pool is drawn from. That's the document worth treating as ground truth for what to study, rather than any unverified claim about bank size.
What This Means for How You Practise
Because the official bank isn't practice software, your prep still depends on a genuinely separate question bank — one built to teach, not just to test. The two things worth checking in any MDCAT QBank you consider:
- Does it follow the current unified syllabus, not an older provincial one?
- Does every question come with an explanation, so a wrong answer teaches you something instead of just marking you wrong?
