MCCQE Part 1 Mock Test: Free 2-Section Timed Practice Exam

MCCQE Part 1 is 230 MCQs across two 115-question, 2h40m sections. Here’s how to rehearse that real Prometric-day structure, free with the QBank.

The MCCQE Part 1, per the Medical Council of Canada's current single-day format, is entirely 230 MCQs (a mix of scored and unscored pilot items) split evenly into two sections of 115 questions each. Each section runs 2 hours 40 minutes, with an optional 45-minute break between them — a maximum testing time of 5 hours 20 minutes, inside a roughly 6.5-hour Prometric appointment once you account for check-in and the tutorial. The separate short-answer Clinical Decision-Making component was removed; everything is now evaluated through the MCQ format alone.

115 questions in 2 hours 40 minutes is a slightly more generous pace per question than some other licensing exams, but the total sitting length — well over five hours of testing across two sections — is its own challenge. Most candidates preparing from Pakistan have never actually sat a single continuous test block that long, which makes the endurance component as important to rehearse as the content.

Check your section-by-section breakdown, not just the combined score — Medicine and Pediatrics carry the heaviest weight in the real exam, so a weakness there matters more than in a lighter-weighted domain.
Run the second attempt close to your actual test date, ideally scheduled to match your real appointment's time of day.
