How to Prepare for MDCAT 2025: A Complete Guide
Everything you need to know about the UHS MDCAT 2025 — syllabus breakdown, best resources, and a week-by-week study plan to maximise your score.
The Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) is the gateway to every public medical college in Pakistan. With tens of thousands of students competing for a limited number of seats, preparation strategy matters as much as raw effort.
Understanding the Syllabus
- Biology (80 marks) — highest weightage. Focus on cell biology, genetics, human physiology, and ecology.
- Chemistry (68 marks) — organic chemistry dominates. Master reaction mechanisms, functional groups, and electrochemistry.
- Physics (56 marks) — mostly numerical. Optics, electromagnetic induction, and modern physics are high-yield.
- English (37 marks) — vocabulary, comprehension, and grammar. Past paper vocabulary lists are your best friend.
Build Your Foundation First
Before touching MCQs, make sure your conceptual base is solid. Read your FSc textbooks carefully — MDCAT questions are closely mapped to them.
A Simple 12-Week Plan
- Weeks 1–4: Subject-by-subject revision (one chapter per day)
- Weeks 5–8: Subject-wise MCQ practice (50+ MCQs per day)
- Weeks 9–11: Full past paper mocks (timed, exam conditions)
- Week 12: Revision of weak topics and high-yield flashcards only
Consistency beats intensity. Two focused hours every day will outperform an occasional 10-hour cramming session.
