FCPS Part 1 Dentistry Eligibility: Requirements & How to Apply
Who can sit FCPS Part 1 Dentistry — BDS registration, house job rules, required documents — and the full CPSP ePortal application process, step by step.

FCPS Part 1 – Dental Surgery is the entry examination into CPSP's postgraduate dental training programmes. Before you start preparing, confirm you actually qualify to sit it — the eligibility rules trip up more candidates through a missing document than through the exam content itself.
Who Can Apply
- A BDS degree recognised and registered with the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC).
- A one-year house job at a PM&DC-recognised institution, completed at least one month before the exam date. You can now apply while still completing your house job — you no longer have to wait until it's fully finished.
- Valid PM&DC registration, or your renewal receipt if it's being renewed.
- A valid CNIC (or passport for overseas candidates).
- A recent passport-size photograph on a white background.
Foreign graduates: your dental degree must be recognised and registered with your own country's dental council, and equated by PM&DC before you apply.
How to Apply
- Go to the CPSP portal at cpsp.edu.pk — the only official route. Don't apply through third parties.
- Select your registration type (fresh candidate or repeater) and complete the form using your PM&DC number.
- Receive your Form number and fee challan by email — keep this, it identifies your application throughout the process.
- Pay the examination fee via bank challan, a CPSP regional office, or online card payment. CPSP sets and updates the fee independently, so check the current amount directly on cpsp.edu.pk rather than relying on a fixed figure — it's shown on your fee challan.
- Upload your documents and submit against your Form number. Unreadable scans are a common cause of rejection — check every upload before submitting.
- Download your roll number slip once your application and payment are verified. It carries your exam centre, date, and reporting time.
Common Reasons Applications Get Held Up
- Unregistered or lapsed PM&DC number. Confirm your registration is current before you start the form.
- House job certificate issued too late. It must be dated at least one month before your exam.
- Illegible document scans. Re-scan at higher resolution if in doubt.
- Fee paid after the deadline. The application window closes on a fixed date — set a reminder rather than paying at the last minute.
