MDCAT Result: How to Check Your Score, Scorecard, and What Comes Next
Complete guide to checking your MDCAT result on the PMC portal, understanding your scorecard, and the steps after result declaration.
MDCAT result day is one of the most anxious moments for pre-medical students in Pakistan. Knowing how to check your result quickly, understand your scorecard, and plan your next steps is essential. This guide covers everything about the MDCAT result process.
When Are MDCAT Results Declared?
PMC typically declares MDCAT results 2–4 weeks after the last test date. The exact date varies by year. PMC announces the result date through:
- Official notification on pmc.gov.pk
- PMC social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter)
- SMS alerts to registered mobile numbers
How to Check Your MDCAT Result
- Visit the PMC portal: Go to pmc.gov.pk and navigate to the MDCAT results section.
- Log in: Enter your CNIC and password used during MDCAT registration.
- View your result: Your score, subject-wise breakdown, and overall result status will appear.
- Download your scorecard: Click "Download Scorecard" to get the official PDF. You will need this for college admissions.
Understanding Your MDCAT Scorecard
Your MDCAT scorecard contains:
- Total marks obtained: Out of 200.
- Subject-wise marks: Biology (out of 80), Chemistry (out of 60), Physics (out of 40), English (out of 20).
- Percentile: Your position relative to all other test-takers.
- Pass/fail status: Whether you meet the minimum threshold set by PMC.
MDCAT Passing Marks
PMC sets a minimum qualifying score for MDCAT. In recent years, this has been around 55–60% (110–120 out of 200). Students below this threshold cannot apply for admission to any medical or dental college. Note that qualifying MDCAT does not guarantee admission — it only makes you eligible to apply.
Result for Specific Universities and Regions
Some students search for results by institution (e.g., KMU MDCAT result, UHS MDCAT result). It is important to understand that:
- PMC conducts a single MDCAT. There is no separate "KMU MDCAT" or "UHS MDCAT" — all students take the same PMC MDCAT.
- Regional references usually mean the merit list or admission result declared by that university based on MDCAT scores, not a separate test result.
- KMU (Khyber Medical University) manages KPK medical admissions using PMC MDCAT scores.
- UHS (University of Health Sciences) manages Punjab medical admissions using PMC MDCAT scores.
What To Do After Getting Your MDCAT Result
If You Scored Well
- Calculate your aggregate: Use the formula (10% Matric + 40% FSc + 50% MDCAT) to estimate your aggregate.
- Research merit cutoffs: Check last year's closing merit for colleges you are targeting.
- Apply for admissions: Register on UHS (Punjab), KMU (KPK), SMBBMU/Dow (Sindh) portals as applicable.
- Submit documents: Keep original documents ready — marksheets, MDCAT scorecard, domicile, CNIC, photos.
- Watch merit lists: Merit lists come in rounds. If you do not get in the first list, wait for subsequent rounds.
If You Did Not Score Well
- Calculate your aggregate anyway: You might still qualify for some private colleges.
- Consider retaking MDCAT: You can appear again next year. Use this year's experience to improve your score.
- Explore alternatives: BDS (dentistry), Pharm-D, DPT, and allied health sciences use MDCAT scores but have lower cutoffs.
- Do not give up: Many successful doctors cleared MDCAT on their second or third attempt.
MDCAT Result Rechecking
PMC allows students to apply for result rechecking within a specified window after results. A rechecking fee applies. If you believe there was a scoring error, apply promptly through the PMC portal. Note that since MDCAT is computer-marked, significant score changes during rechecking are rare.
Check your result early, save your scorecard, calculate your aggregate, and start the admission process immediately. Seats fill up fast, and timing matters.
