MDCAT Aggregate Calculator: How to Calculate Your Medical College Merit

Learn the exact MDCAT aggregate formula used by Pakistani medical colleges. Calculate your aggregate for Punjab, Sindh, KPK, and Balochistan admissions.

Your MDCAT aggregate determines whether you get into your dream medical college. Understanding exactly how it is calculated — and how to maximize it — is essential for every pre-medical student in Pakistan. This guide explains the aggregate formula province by province, with worked examples.

What is MDCAT Aggregate?

The MDCAT aggregate is a weighted score that combines your Matric marks, FSc marks, and MDCAT score into a single number. Medical colleges rank applicants by aggregate to create merit lists. The higher your aggregate, the better college you can get into.

Standard MDCAT Aggregate Formula

Most provinces in Pakistan use this formula:

  • Matric (SSC): 10%
  • FSc (HSSC): 40%
  • MDCAT: 50%

Formula: Aggregate = (Matric obtained/total × 10) + (FSc obtained/total × 40) + (MDCAT obtained/200 × 50)

Step-by-Step Calculation Example

Let us say a student has:

  • Matric marks: 1,045 out of 1,100
  • FSc marks: 1,020 out of 1,100
  • MDCAT score: 170 out of 200

Calculation:

  • Matric component: (1045/1100) × 10 = 9.50
  • FSc component: (1020/1100) × 40 = 37.09
  • MDCAT component: (170/200) × 50 = 42.50
  • Total Aggregate: 9.50 + 37.09 + 42.50 = 89.09%

Province-Wise Aggregate Formulas

Punjab

Punjab uses the standard 10-40-50 formula. UHS (University of Health Sciences) manages merit lists for all public medical colleges in Punjab including KEMU, AIMC, RMC, and others.

Sindh

Sindh also follows the 10-40-50 formula for most admissions. However, some private colleges may weigh MDCAT differently. Always check the specific college's prospectus.

KPK (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa)

KPK uses the same 10-40-50 formula. ETEA previously managed entry tests in KPK, but since the national MDCAT was introduced, PMC scores are used with the standard formula.

Balochistan

Balochistan follows the national standard. Bolan Medical College and other Balochistan institutions use the 10-40-50 formula.

What Aggregate Do You Need?

Here are approximate aggregate ranges for different tiers of medical colleges (these fluctuate yearly):

  • Top government colleges (KEMU, AIMC, RMC): 90%+ aggregate
  • Mid-tier government colleges: 85–90% aggregate
  • Lower government colleges: 80–85% aggregate
  • Top private colleges: 80–85% aggregate
  • Other private colleges: 65–80% aggregate

How to Maximize Your Aggregate

Since MDCAT carries 50% weightage, it has the biggest impact on your aggregate:

  • A 10-mark improvement in MDCAT raises your aggregate by 2.5 points.
  • A 10-mark improvement in FSc raises your aggregate by about 0.36 points.
  • A 10-mark improvement in Matric raises your aggregate by about 0.09 points.

This is why focused MDCAT preparation gives you the highest return on effort. Even if your FSc marks are not perfect, a strong MDCAT score can push your aggregate well above 85%.

Hafiz-e-Quran Marks

Students who are Hafiz-e-Quran receive 20 additional marks in their FSc total in Punjab. This bonus is factored into the aggregate calculation and can add approximately 0.7% to your overall aggregate.

Aggregate for NUMS

NUMS (National University of Medical Sciences) uses a different formula since it conducts its own entry test. NUMS typically uses:

  • Matric: 10%
  • FSc: 30%
  • NUMS Entry Test: 60%

Calculate your aggregate accurately, set a target score, and work backwards to figure out what MDCAT score you need. This clarity will focus your preparation like nothing else.
